Gotta love a green smoothie…. they are so full of nutrition and fiber. And what’s not to like about peanut butter… except the fat maybe… so check out PB2 which is peanut butter with the fat squeezed out of it till it’s a powder. It’s yummy… I promise.
Green Peanut Butter Smoothie
- 2 C unsweetened vanilla almond milk
- 1 scoop Juice Plus French Vanilla Complete
- 2 TB PB2
- 1/2 frozen banana
- 1/2 avocado
- 2 handfuls organic baby spinach
- 1 TB agave nectar (optional – taste it first before adding)
Blend on high till smooth.
This makes a large green smoothie so you can share with your spouse if you like… or do like I do and put the lid on the blender container and throw it in the fridge for an afternoon snack.
I bought some juicy Texas oranges at the farmer’s market yesterday and just knew I would need to throw one in my smoothie this morning. Poor little orange had no idea it was going to be pulverized in the Vitamix….. so tasty.
Strawberry Orange Smoothie
- 1 orange, peeled and seeded
- 1/2 frozen banana
- 1/2 C frozen strawberries (if using fresh, throw in some ice)
- 1 C water
- 1 Scoop Juice Plus French Vanilla Complete
- 1/4 tsp pure orange extract (optional)
- 1 tsp grated ginger (optional… it will add a touch of heat but it’s great for inflammation)
Add all to a high powered blender and blend till smooth.
To make it a green smoothie throw in a couple handfuls organic baby spinach…. so good for you.
This is one yummy smoothie and it’s loaded with protein, fiber, antioxidants, and Omega 3s. It’s perfect for right after a hard run or workout.
3/4 C Pomegranate Juice
1/4 C Water
1 Scoop Juice Plus French Vanilla Complete
2 Tb Hemp Hearts (optional-see note)
1 Frozen Banana
3 Ice Cubes
Throw everything in a blender and blend till smoothie.
Note: I found the Hemp Hearts at CostCo and since they are shelled they work great in smoothies.
If you haven’t noticed this week most of my smoothies are chocolate based… I ran out of vanilla mix so until I restock chocolate it is.
Chocolate Mint Smoothie
1 scoop Juice Plus Dutch Chocolate mix
1 C unsweetened vanilla almond milk
1 frozen banana
2 handfuls baby spinach (optional)
1/4 tsp pure mint extract
3 ice cubes
Blend in a high powered blender till smooth and no bits of spinach can be seen. Add a little water to thin if necessary.
I saw this carrot cashew recipe on the Whole Foods website that I wanted to try. But I’ll be honest… I’m lazy and didn’t want to have to boil carrots and all that jazz. So I came up with a raw version…. That is until I realized I had no raw cashews only roasted ones… But I think both would work great.
And the best part about this dip is that it was approved by my 15 year old son who usually hates my vegan concoctions. He even insisted I put it on the blog.
Carrot Cashew Dip
15 dried apricots
1 8.5 oz can roasted (or raw) cashews with sea salt
1 large carrot or 2 to 3 smaller ones
1/2 C water
Place all in a high powered blender like a Vitamix and start on low and move to high. If you are using a Vitamix, use the plunger to push all the ingredients down into the blades. Blend until its nice and smooth.
I’m sure you could also process this dip in a food processor and get the same results.
Serve with crackers, wheat thins, or fruit like apples.
There is this wonderful little chocolate shop in Hico, Texas that I make it to a couple times a year and there you will find homemade candied orange peel dipped in deep, dark chocolate. It’s heaven to me. I love the combination of chocolate and orange. So here’s my smoothie version of chocolate covered candied orange peel. Yum!!
Chocolate Orange Smoothie
- 1 small orange, peeled
- 1 frozen banana
- 1 scoop Juice Plus Dutch Chocolate Complete (See Juice Plus link on the left)
- 1 C unsweetened vanilla almond milk
- 1/4 tsp pure orange extract
- 3 ice cubes
Place in your Vitamix or other high powered blender and give it a whirl.
I almost don’t want to put a picture of this smoothie on here. it’s such a funky color but it tastes amazing. So my suggestion is to put it in colored glass with a straw to hide its appearance. It’s like the ugly duckling of smoothies.
